The workshop/social cohesion session was held in Windsor West with our refugee beneficiaries from Windsor and local beneficiaries from Kagiso. The purpose of the session was to build a rapport of trust, empathy and mentality shift on the refugee narrative of South Africa.

The dialogue session also aimed at educating our local beneficiaries on the plight of refugees and about the mandate signed off by the South African government to protect this minority group. Stakeholders from the city of Johannesburg and Sophiatown Counselling attended the meeting.

World Refugee Day is a special day when the world takes time to recognize the resilience of forcibly displaced people throughout the world. The 20th of June is dedicated to raising awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world.

Each year on this special day the United Nations, United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and countless civic groups around the world celebrate World Refugee Day in order to draw the public's attention to the millions of refugees and Internally displaced persons worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict and persecution.

Africa Day is celebrated every year on the 25th of May. It is an opportunity to celebrate African diversity and success and to highlight the cultural and economic potential that exists on the African continent. Africa Day celebrations acknowledge the progress that Africans have made while reflecting upon the common challenges we face in a global, regional and local context.
