2026 Back to school Campaign
🎒Back to School. Back to Dignity. Back to A Future.
For many children growing up in Johannesburg's inner city, the start of a new school year does not come with excitement but rather comes with anxiety.
No uniform.
No stationery.
No sense of belonging.
Hand in Hand, in partnership with the Boyz and Girlz Foundation, is launching a Back-to-School Campaign to support disadvantaged children from inner-city communities with the most basic but essential school needs: school uniforms and stationery.
Why This Matters
A school uniform is more than clothing, it is dignity, confidence, and belonging. Stationery is more than paper and pens, it is access to learning, participation, and opportunity.
When children arrive at school without these basics, they are often excluded, embarrassed, or left behind — not because they lack ability, but because they lack resources.
Our Goal
To ensure that every child starts the school year equipped, confident, and ready to learn.
With your support, we aim to provide:
-
✔️ School uniforms (shirts, trousers/skirts, shoes, jerseys)
-
✔️ Essential stationery packs (exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons)
-
✔️ A sense of pride and motivation to succeed at school
How You Can Help
You can make a difference in three simple ways:
-
Donate school uniforms or new stationery items at the Hand in Hand Southern Africa Head Office.
-
Contribute financially to help us purchase items where gaps exists via our donate now button.
-
Share this campaign within your networks to amplify impact
No contribution is too small — every pencil, every shirt, every rand counts.
The Impact
One uniform changes how a child walks into class.
One stationery pack changes how a child participates.
One act of kindness can change a child's future.
Together, we can turn the start of the school year into a moment of hope, equality, and possibility.
Let's give children more than supplies — let's give them a fair start.
